After 15 arbitration hearing days before three arbitrators appointed by the American Arbitration Association, attorneys for Hinckley Allen – Timothy Corey and Peter Martin – obtained an award in the amount of $5,359,643.83 on September 30, 2014, in favor of Stonington Water Street Associates, the developer of a large mixed use condominium project in Stonington, Conn., against Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners LLP, the architect, for defective design and deficient construction administrative services resulting in severe water leaks through the project’s windows, doors and masonry. This case began with an April 2008 state court action and ended with this September 2014 arbitration win. This is believed to be the largest arbitration award against an architect in Connecticut.
